Beastie Boys legend Mike D has officially confirmed plans for his new solo album, titled ‘Thank You’.
The American icon is currently in the UK, performing a series of intimate shows across the country. Accompanied by 5D, the rapper has been treating fans to a blend of new material alongside highlights from his storied career.
The upcoming project, ‘Thank You’, is credited to Mike D 5D and is scheduled for release via Capitol Records on August 28th. The album features production expertise from Derek “MixedByAli” Ali and mastering by Nicolas de Porcel. It marks the first full-length collection of new music from a Beastie Boys alum since the 2011 release of ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 2’.
Reflecting on the creative process, Mike D shared his perspective on the project: “It’s been so much fun making this music with people I love and I have grown to really appreciate in our collaboration. And I just hope it’s fun for others and not overly serious, because let’s be real, I’m releasing this music into a very strange and dark and power-fixated world that really devalues art and feelings and compassion and empathy and equality.”
The lead single, ‘True Colors’, is available now. Check out the visualizer below:
