Chicago rapper VonOff1700 has officially addressed his recent arrest after an unflattering booking photo surfaced online. The viral image, accompanied by reports that the artist was taken into custody last week on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, sparked widespread speculation across social media platforms.
On Thursday, July 30, the rapper took to his own channels to clarify the situation and provide context regarding the widely circulated mugshot. In a candid statement, he explained the circumstances behind his appearance in the photo, citing exhaustion and a chaotic encounter with law enforcement.
“On Mick, I went to jail off 30 mins of sleep & a 10 of Tris,” he wrote. “That’s what that look like when u get woke up by windows being busted & yo name gettin yelled out a microphone by the police. I just got a haircut let me post my selfie & I just got my tattoos redone stay out my way.”
He further reassured his fanbase regarding his current status, adding, “I’m still free and I got seen.”
While the specific details surrounding the arrest remain somewhat unclear, the rapper had previously hinted at legal troubles in a video posted to social media on July 24. Despite the setback, he confirmed that his scheduled tour date on August 8 remains unaffected.
This is not the first time the Chicago native has faced legal scrutiny. His history with the Chicago Police Department includes arrests in 2021 and 2022 for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, as well as a 2023 charge for armed robbery with a firearm. As of now, representatives for the artist and the Chicago Police Department have not provided further comment on the ongoing situation.
