The Swedish singer-songwriter, known to his fans as Kristian Matsson, has cultivated an immaculate catalogue over the past two decades, consistently earning critical acclaim for his evocative and warming indie folk compositions.
After a period of relative quiet, the artist has signaled his return to the spotlight, including a series of intimate headline shows across Ireland. This new chapter marks a shift toward a more instinctual creative process for the songwriter.
The album’s lead single, ‘Deliver Me From Trying’, serves as an opening gambit that captures the quicksilver spirit Matsson sought to channel during the recording sessions. Reflecting on the track, Matsson noted, “When I listened back to it, I thought, ‘Yeah… okay. Good job, Kristian. You didn’t really know what you were doing there.’ Deliver Me from Trying—just let me stop trying. That line just appeared, and it wasn’t until later that I realised what it meant. It says a lot about where I was at.”
