Neil Young has sold a 50% stake in his songwriting catalogue to Hipgnosis.
The Canadian-born songwriter has finalised the deal, which covers a 50% stake in his work.
Hipgnosis have taken up the offer for an undisclosed sum – however it is reported that Bob Dylan rejected a $400 million offer from Hipgnosis, so we can only assume it involves eye-watering sums.
In all, the 50% stake covers around 1180 songs written or co-written by Neil Young during a career that has lasted for around 60 years.
Hipgnosis are on something of a buying spree, recently picking up the publishing rights of Lindsey Buckingham and the production royalties of Jimmy Iovine.
