YoungBoy Never Broke Again dropped his new album Top on Friday (September 11) featuring Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne. The 21-track project arrived via Atlantic Records and YoungBoy’s own Never Broke Again imprint and serves as the official follow-up to his 2018 debut Until Death Call My Name.
On Thursday (September 10), just hours before the album dropped, YoungBoy revealed the tracklist for the project. A song called “Dead Trollz” immediately raised a few eyebrows considering “Trollz” is spelled the same way as Tekashi 6ix9ine’s “TROLLZ” single featuring Nicki Minaj. Some rap fans even fantasized about Nicki popping up on the song and dissing 6ix9ine.

Although that didn’t happen, fans did blow up Twitter talking about the song. The overall consensus? “Dead Trollz” slaps. One Twitter user commented, “Dead Trollz might be the hardest song I’ve ever heard,” while another wrote, “Dead Trollz gotta be the hardest.” Others joked about the song making them want to “pull up on imaginary opps.”
Lyrically, the track is undeniably full of aggression and finds YoungBoy rapping about unadulterated violence.
“Seven murders in my hometown, tell them bitches I did that,” he raps. “Soon as the other boy touch down, I’ma be pushin’ his wig bag/Dog-ass ho chasin’ after dough, fuck around with thesе opp niggas/See they cookin’ up, I ain’t gon’ stand down, tell that bitch that I’m tryna bang with ’em/Rеal dead man out in Relly Park, I done arranged killers/Mask down on Sunset with them dirty sticks, leave a stain with ’em/Mask on, slang that heater/Man down, call the people.”
YoungBoy fans also drew comparisons to Wayne and hypothesized Wayne’s contribution to the album was his way of passing the torch to his fellow Louisiana native. Overall, Top is being well received by his fans and expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. By August 25, the album was already No. 1 on the Apple Music chart based on pre-sales alone.
