Posted by If you’re reading this, you’ve surely already listened to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, the fifth studio album from generational talent that is Kendrick Lamar. But don’t get it twisted: there’s still plenty of other music to explore on this week’s edition of New Music Friday.
Kicking off this list of brand new singles is “No Gold Teeth” from Danger Mouse and Black Thought, a sample-heavy Boom Bap collaboration from two elite artists. From there we check out Boldy James’ collaboration with producer Real Bad Man, Stove God Cooks and Rome Streetz titled “Open Door.”
Also included are new tracks from LUCKI, Post Malone and Roddy Ricch, Burna Boy and more.

Danger Mouse & Black Thought – “No Gold Teeth”
Danger Mouse, the legendary producer of Gnarls Barkley fame, has been an influential force in Hip Hop for decades. The same can be said for The Roots frontman Black Thought who linked with the production savant for “No Gold Teeth.”
Built around a clever flip of Hugh Masekela’s “Stop” from 1968, “No Gold Teeth” not only flexes Danger Mouse’s creativity as a producer, but also the always impressive bars of Black Thought, a rapper who has remained consistently excellent since the ’90s.
The track is taken from the duo’s long-awaited collaborative album Cheat Codes, which drops on August 12. Guests include the late MF DOOM, A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, Joey Bada$$, Raekwon and Conway The Machine.
Boldy James & Real Bad Man f. Stove God Cooks & Rome Streetz – “Open Door”
Post Malone f. Roddy Ricch – “Cooped Up”
“White Iverson” has returned from his Bud Light-induced slumber to release the Roddy Ricch-assisted “Cooped Up,” the Austin, Texas artist’s first single of the year.
You’d have to go back to 2019 to find Post’s most recent album Hollywood’s Bleeding, a sweeping pop-rap project which contained hits such as “Circles” and “Sunflower” with Swae Lee. Released as the first single from the “Rockstar” artist’s forthcoming album, “Cooped Up” is a radio-ready hit released just in time for summer.
Burna Boy – “Last Last”
There’s no better match for warming weathers than new music from Nigerian singer Burna Boy. The “Way Too Big” artist has been releasing music since the early 2010s, but his career entered new heights with the releases of 2019’s African Giant and the following year’s Twice As Tall.
After announcing festival headlining sets and his upcoming album LOVE, DAMINI, Burna Boy just released “Last Last.” Internationally, Burna Boy is larger than life and with his latest drop, his domestic fanbase just continues to grow.
Davido f. The Samples – “Stand Strong”
Hit-Boy & Dreezy f. Coi Leray – “Balance My Lows”
Los Angeles producer Hit-Boy’s stock was already high, but his work over the past several years with the likes of Nas, Freddie Gibbs and Don Toliver. But in 2022, it’s his work with rapper Dreezy which truly shines. Gearing up for their collaborative album Hit-Girl, the duo just came forward with “Balance My Lows.”
Released just a month after the album’s lead single “They Not Ready,” “Balance My Lows” recruits the assistance of Coi Leray, who is just coming off the release of Trendsetter, to make a catchy and euphoric track, tinged with Hit-Boy’s West Coast flair.
