Track Of The Day 10/12 – Bear's Den

Posted by

Bear’s Den have always been a group in touch with their surroundings.

The band tap into the atmosphere that lingers around them, allowing this to penetrate their songwriting to its core.

So a new mid-winter treat – in 2020 – was always going to prompt mixed emotions, a nuanced set of feelings.

New EP ‘Christmas, Hopefully’ is out now, with a limited edition (a mere 500) physical pressing available to buy online.

All proceeds go to NHS Charities Together, a noble cause given everything that the National Health Service has done this year.

We’re able to share an “immersive audio” version of the title track, something intended to give “a more warming and intimate experience…”

Bear’s Den explain…

“As the track itself focuses on the countless stories of those that will be spending Christmas without their loved ones this year, the single-shot video delivers an inviting aesthetic that lets many know that even though we are apart, we will still be thinking of them this festive season.”

They add: “It’s been a strange old year for all of us and as a band it’s been no different. Our musical identity was built from touring and playing shows and without it, life just hasn’t been the same. We’ve been racking our brains trying to figure out interesting ways of performing that can make us all feel like we’re in the same room together and it’s proven really tricky…”

A beautiful performance, there’s something innately warming about the band’s folk-hewn songwriting, with Bear’s Den lifting their standards once more for this exquisite video.

“Our good friends Ricky & Anthony suggested working together on an immersive audio performance and we jumped at the chance. So here’s a video performance of our new Christmas song ‘Christmas, Hopefully’ performed in and around The Salisbury Tavern (one of our locals) during the most recent lockdown. Best experienced with headphones to make it feel like you’re in the room with us.”

Tune in now.
