The 2021 HipHopDX Rising Stars are becoming more known for dropping a bag or two on the finer things in life such as mansions, cars and jewelry.
This week, one of the Rising Stars decided to make a huge purchase that also comes with a huge responsibility.
BLEU, formerly known as Yung Bleu, has been having a great fourth quarter of the year as he dropped his debut album Moon Boy, embarked on his first headlining tour and won Best New Hip Hop Artist at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards. Beyond celebrating his wins with Instagram posts, he decided to flex a little differently when he shared his new pet monkey he named Moon.

BLEU caption an Instagram post of the adorable primate with, “My new monkey attached to me already his name Moon follow @moonvandross.” Moon’s name is clearly inspired by BLEU’s latest album, Moon Boy.
Having a monkey as a domesticated pet has always been a controversial issue, but it hasn’t stopped celebrities from making the popular purchase for years. Some celebs who’ve owned the exotic animal are the late Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Chris Brown and even French Montana.
The controversy behind owning a chimpanzee, capuchin or any exotic animal is these animals need a special kind of attentive care many celebrities may not have the time to properly give. Also, there’s no regulation to stop the purchase of a monkey, so anyone can go on Google and search “baby monkey for sale” and find a seller.
