Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” is a No. 1 hit in the United Kingdom. The two’s single has reached the top of the UK’s Offical Singles Chart, becoming the first female rap collaboration to ever accomplish the feat.
“WAP” ascended to No. 1 in its fourth week on the UK chart, dethroning the preceding week’s top entry — Joel Corry and MNEK’s collab “Head & Heart” — for the crown. “WAP,” which has been in the Top 4 for its entire run on the chart, sold roughly 65,000 copies with 8.5 million streams over its chart-topping week in the UK.
Cardi and Megan’s smash hit is each artist’s first No. 1 song in the UK. Cardi’s previous peak was No. 5, which she earned through her appearance on Bruno Mars’ “Finesse (Remix)” in 2018. Prior to “WAP,” Megan’s career-high came when her track “Savage” made it to No. 3 in May.
A month ago, “WAP’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending August 13. Cardi and Megan’s single made history then too by racking up 93 million streams, the most ever for a song in its first week.
“WAP” was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America exactly one week after its release and is on track for double platinum certification. Its official video has amassed over 176 million views on YouTube as of Monday (September 7).
