Cardi B has added more ink to her collection – and still has more to go.
On Tuesday (May 19), the Grammy Award-winning rapper previewed a back tattoo she’s recently began work on, tagging the artist and writing the piece would be complete in “2 more sessions.” The art covers a majority of her back and features a butterfly surrounded by a variety of flowers.
Cardi’s post came just before she was named in a lengthy rant from Lana Del Rey, who cited the Bronx native along with Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé for having hypersexualized lyrics, while she gets called out for her alternative portrayal of relationships.
“Now that Doja Cat, Ariana [Grande], Camila [Cabello], Cardi B, Kehlani, and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating etc — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever I want without being crucified or saying I’m glamorizing abuse????” the singer wrote on Instagram on Thursday (May 21).
While Cardi has yet to reply as of press time, Del Rey clarified she named those specific artists because they are some of her favorites.
