DJ Jazzy Jeff opened up about his recent bout with COVID-19 in a conversation with his old friend Will Smith. Jeff detailed his symptoms and revealed he completely lost track of time while he was sick.
“I came home from my trip and was like, ‘I feel like I’m coming down with something,’” he explained. “And [I] got it in the bed; don’t remember the next 10 days. I had a temperature that reached about 103 [degrees]. I had the chills. I lost sense of smell. I lost sense of taste. They gave me a flu test.”

Smith was taken aback by the veteran DJ’s inability to get tested for the coronavirus. Yet Jeff knew something was wrong and soon learned he was suffering from severe pneumonia, which has been caused by some cases of COVID-19.
“When I went and got the chest x-ray, she came in and she said, ‘You have pneumonia in both your lungs,” he told his Fresh Prince partner.
Smith said he realized it was serious when Jeff’s wife called him with “panic vibes” because she doesn’t panic. He also joked about replacing his longtime DJ with D-Nice if things went sideways.
Thankfully, Jeff was able to recover, but he fears many more people will be facing COVID-19 scares.
“Unfortunately, people think that we’re at the end, and I think we are really at the beginning,” he lamented.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed more than 605,000 cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. as of Wednesday (April 15). The death toll has surpassed 24,000.
