Eliza Oakes thrives on bringing together different elements.
A songwriter and composer who was born and raised in South East London, she’s never wanted to be tied down to one sound or genre.
As a fan, she’s drawn towards the club experience, but it also thrives on the intimacy of the studio – whether it’s jazz, neo-soul, or system fare, she wants to absorb it all.
Debut single ‘Let It Be Known’ finds Eliza arranging these layers into a singular document, a vivid piece of songwriting that bristles with potential.
A song about self-discovery and allowing yourself to embrace freedom and love, ‘Let It Be Known’ opens with broken beat heaven before settling into an absorbing astral soul journey.
“I wrote this song quite a while ago but started properly piecing it all together in the first lockdown,” she recalls. “I felt a real sense of freedom whilst writing it and now listening to the final creation fills me with pride and joy, reflecting the meaning of the song which is about being proud of who you are and who you love.”
