Jeezy has a special surprise for his fans on the way. With Wednesday (September 2) marking The Recession’s 12th anniversary, the trap pioneer took to social media to tease a possible sequel to the 2008 platinum-certified LP.
“12 years ago today I wrote The Recession, one of my best album to date,” he wrote. “As you can see we here again.”
The accompanying video flashes back to 2008’s market crisis with the Kanye West-assisted “Put On” providing the soundtrack.

Fast-forwarding to 2020, Jeezy shows the parallels with the current state of America, which has seen an economic dip thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans peppering Jeezy’s comment section clamoring for The Recession 2 also pop up throughout the clip.
Jeezy previously declared 2019’s TM104 would serve as his final album and he would be hanging up his mic for good, but that didn’t last long. The Atlanta native ended his brief retirement in March with the release of Twenty/20 Pyrex Vision and looks to be back in the booth once again.
