Tory Lanez was hit with a block button from the Instagram powers that be earlier this week. Now, the CEO of the massive social media platform is shedding light on why exactly the company had to temporarily suspend the Toronto-born rapper’s IG Live capabilities.
During an Instagram Live interview with The Shade Room, IG head honcho Adam Mosseri explained why they had to pull the plug on Lanez’s fun. The answer really isn’t that surprising — it’s the X-rated content that did it.
“Quarantine Radio is great, so shout out to Tory Lanez for that,” Mosseri begins. “The lives have been great, the lives with the fans have been great. But you can’t have nudity on Instagram. “That’s part of our community guidelines, it’s part of the rules and we can’t make exceptions. And on a couple of those lives, on two accounts, there was nudity so we had to stop the live.
“There’s a short period of time where you can’t go live again. We have to stick to the rules otherwise why do we have them? But generally, big fan of Tory Lanez, big fan of Quarantine Radio. I hope it comes back soon, but no nudity! We can’t have that.”

Although Lanez was momentarily annoyed, he quickly started another Instagram account and pulled in over 27,000 followers in roughly 60 seconds. The Quarantine Radio account currently boasts over 124,000 followers.
Lanez was using IG Live to stay connected to his friends and peers. Fellow Canadian Drake joined him during one particular session and allegedly broke an Instagram record for the most viewers. As they discussed the coronavirus pandemic, Drake told Lanez he’d discovered the secret to staying healthy.
The former Interscope Records rapper said, “We know that you were around Kevin Durant when he caught the corona. What were you doing to stay corona free at that time?” to which Drake replied, “Honestly, a glass of wine keeps the rona away, boys.”
