Snoop Dogg’s transformation into America’s most family-friendly Hip Hop OG is nearing completion. The West Coast legend’s latest act is joining forces with South Korean boy group Monsta X for “How We Do,” a single taken from the third SpongeBob Squarepants animated movie, Sponge On The Run.
Snoop delivers bars right in tune with the theme of the movie. “You better leave now, are you lost, dawg? The Zombie King, yeah, I hear him coming, OG ghoul with a thirst for the run-in,” he raps on the high energy track.
Sponge On The Run premiered on Viacom’s new streaming platform Paramount+ on March 4 and features Swae Lee, Tyga, Lil Mosey and more.
The Doggfather has been everywhere in recent months, from commenting on boxing matches between Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson to jumping in the wrestling ring for All Elite Wrestling. As one of the few stars in Hip Hop who appears to be doing nothing but side missions, he’s also found himself in a few sour moments as well. In February, he was on the awkward end of a Madden NFL 21 live stream. He quit mid-match after he went down 21 to zero, as is custom.
As opposed to merely taking a loss in grace, Snoop fired off a series of expletives in the process.
“Fuck this shit!” he shouted. “I came in this fuckin’ room and everything went fucking bad. Fuck this shit, man! Fuck. Hours later, he returned to the stream after realizing he’d be on for hours, leaving viewers to wonder what happened.
