Since joining the Rwanda Patriots of the Basketball Africa League, J. Cole has seen his play steadily develop with each passing game.
After going scoreless in his second appearance, the Dreamville leader got on the scoreboard in the next game against Union Sportive Monastirienne on Saturday (May 22).
The Off-Season rapper had a humble statline with only two points, one rebound and one assist. He shot 50 percent from the field and racked up three fouls in 12 minutes of play.

His one and only made shot came off a smooth jumper at the free-throw line with a hand in his face. The Patriots lost the game 91-75 but it looks like they are keeping their word on giving J. Cole ample playing time.
J. Cole signed with the Rwanda Patriots for three to six games. With a trio of matches left, expect the 36-year-old to close out his stint on a high note with the progression he’s made throughout the season.
While making waves with the Basketball Africa League, Cole’s name is also buzzing within the NBA. All-Star players including Damian Lillard, Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell and a multitude of others raved about their favorite songs, lyrics and the wide range of beats on The Off-Season.
Cole made references to former league Most Valuable Player Russell Westbrook and Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant. In the track “punchin’.the.clock,” Cole sampled a soundbite from Lillard’s postgame interview following his 61-point performance against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA bubble on August 11, 2020.
